POSITION SUMMARY:




We are currently recruiting for an Accountant IV working on assignment with Montgomery County Health and Human Services. This full-time position will be performed onsite in Silver Spring MD.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform real time tracking of expenditures for operating costs across all grants.

  • Work with HIV/STI managers on expenditures and budget line items.

  • File in managers teams folders, all back up documents and invoices to appropriate grant.

  • Assist other admin team members with invoice payment documents and submission to fiscal team

  • Prepare journal entries for reconciliation of expenses for services and reimbursements to county, and other miscellaneous charges with Oracle (the county's accounting platform).

  • Monitor general ledger to assure charges are valid and assigned to correct billing codes implementing general accounting principles.

  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications :

Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Expert level skill in creating and maintaining excel spreadsheets.

  • Ability to comply with strict protocols of confidentiality.

  • Strong attention to detail and oral communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with administrative and program staff.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with technology.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently; must be self-motivated.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.

  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.


Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma.

  • At least 2 years of experience with Excel and Accounts Payable.

  • Must successfully complete ORACLE TRAINING provided by the county.


Physical Requirements:


 


·       Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


·       Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours will be required.
