Accounts Receivable Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are recruiting a skilled and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the correctional programs of the Commonwealth of Virginia by supporting financial processes that provide quality goods and services. The ideal candidate will manage accounts receivable transactions, reconcile accounts, perform data entry, and ensure compliance with applicable policies. They will contribute to the organization's profitability and customer satisfaction through accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism. This Full-time position starts at $20-$25.50 per hour and is located in North Chesterfield, VA.

- Perform accounts receivable processes, including analysis, reconciliation, and data entry.
- Ensure financial transactions comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Research, collect, verify, and document financial information per established policies and procedures.
- Resolve account discrepancies efficiently and accurately.
- Manage high-volume work responsibilities using software tools like Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Stay organized and work independently while managing time effectively and meeting deadlines.
- Maintain attention to detail, solve problems, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Hands-on experience in accounts receivable (A/R) processes.
- Proven ability to analyze and process financial transactions accurately.
- Experience resolving account discrepancies effectively.
- Background in researching, collecting, verifying, and documenting financial information according to policies and procedures.
- Handling high-volume work responsibilities.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and critical thinking
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.
- Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
- Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- An ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in accounts receivable or a similar financial role.
- Proven experience with financial reconciliation, data entry, and resolving account discrepancies.
- Familiarity with accounting software and systems, such as QuickBooks, SAP, or similar tools, is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
- Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
