ADA Project Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently recruiting for ADA Project Specialist. This full-time position pays $27.00/hr, and is located in Cranston, RI.
Under the Supervision of the Executive Secretary and ADA Program Manager, the ADA Project Specialist will expand the outreach of the Commission through presentations, attending events, and forming relationships with other organizations. After training, this will also assist in monitoring physical accessibility through on-site visits and architectural plan reviews (training provided).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Promote information in the community about disability rights under state and federal law and the work of the Commission.
- Provide online and in-person training to government, non-profit, and public entities about disability rights.
- Inform the GCD coworkers of feedback from the community.
- Assist in social media postings and newsletter.
- Review building plans submitted to the Commission for ADA compliance review.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Spanish-speaking applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Fluent in Spanish is preferred.
- Familiarity with civil rights preferred.
- Experience engaging and working with the public.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work well with the office staff and the public.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Ability to travel within the state.
- Ability to process and analyze visual information.
- Strong commitment to civil rights.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible.
- Highly motivated.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field, preferred.
- At least 1 year working or volunteering with a human services organization.
- Experience working within an office setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Working hours M-F, 8:30am-4:00pm.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
