POSITION SUMMARY:


 


We are currently recruiting a Bilingual Human Service Specialist III position. This full- time, position pays $24 an hour and is in Rockville, MD. We are looking for French, Creole, or Amharic speakers.


 


This position coordinates with staff at CAA for newly arrived individuals, providing intake/case management services to newly arrived persons stationed at the Respite Center and other locations suggested by CAA Navigation Manager.


 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Connects newly arrived individuals/families to services administered by DHHS or the extended Lighthouse network.

  • Facilitates educational information sessions to assist with the immigrant community.

  •  Participates and supports community events; increases awareness via outreach activities of the Lighthouse Initiative.

  • Supports other navigation and administrative tasks as needed and required by CAA's Navigation Manager. 

  • Respond to requests for assistance (via walk-in visits, and/or telephone calls and recorded messages)

  • Provide interpretation for people with limited English proficiency, and explanations of services for people

  • Initiate triage/screening process using the HHS’ eICM system to determine and assist the client

  • Provide information and referrals, in partnership with TESS employees, contractors, CAA and HHS service area

  • .Provide support for people in applying with online systems, guiding them to complete forms

  • Answering or making phone calls to assure that they are connected with services, with a warm hand-off to referral

  • Additional duties as assigned.


 


Required Qualifications :

Required Skills/Abilities:


 



  • Bilingual in French, Creole, or Amharic

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.


·       Ability to work independently; must be self-motivated.


·       Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.


·       Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.


Education and Experience:


 



  • High School diploma, required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, required.

  • Experience working with low- income population

  • Outgoing and motivated people are encouraged to apply


 


Physical Requirements:


 


·       Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


·       Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, however evening and weekend hours may be required.
