Bilingual Human Services Specialist IV
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Human Services Specialist IV to support and engage Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in accessing local health and social services. This role involves community outreach, partnership building, and health education, requiring a strong understanding of AAPI cultures and community needs.
Ideal candidates will have experience in outreach, community engagement, and public health initiatives, with a Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification preferred. Fluency in an AAPI language is required.
This is a part-time position ($27/hour) with opportunities for professional growth in social services and public health.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Support vulnerable Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community members in identifying and signing up for County and local health and social services.
- Attend community outreach events on behalf of AAHI and provide health education and service referrals; conduct outreach in diverse and nontraditional settings, such as small businesses.
- Connect with existing community partners, reach out to new AAPI communities, identify opportunities for partnership, and set up events and programs to satisfy needs.
- Lead workshops and classes around health and wellness; support in setting up health fairs, health screenings, and vaccination clinics.[SS1] Researching relevant topics and developing engaging materials to effectively deliver sessions.
- Conduct research on local resources, populate internal databases, and share resources with community members.
- Identify and capture community needs, communicate needs to program staff, and work with staff on building community interventions.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently; must be self-motivated.
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Strong community outreach experience and demonstrated ability to engage diverse populations, particularly within the AAPI community.
- Experience working with AAPI communities is a must.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma, required.
- Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification is preferred.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking any of the following languages: Chinese, Bangla, Burmese, Hindi, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Nepali, Sinhala, Tagalog, Thai, Urdu, Vietnamese.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer[SS1] .
- Community- based outreach requiring travel to various locations withing Montgomery County, MD.
- Non- traditional work hours, requiring evening and weekend availability. Schedule may vary depending on events.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Travel will be required within Montgomery County.
