POSITION SUMMARY:


We are currently recruiting for a CDL Snow Driver. The CDL Snow Driver is responsible for performing emergency snow removal, and related duties as assigned. This Seasonal position starts at $46.27  per hour and is located in Charles City, VA. 


 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • These emergency Medium & Heavy Duty Equipment Operators (CDL holders) stand-by for “call-in” seasonal work to supplement advance storm preparation and snow removal activities, as required. 




  • During inclement weather, will operate and maintain roadway equipment (such as dump trucks, front end loaders, and tractors), to clear snow and ice from roadways; apply abrasives and chemicals on road surfaces; and perform heavy manual labor such as installing tire chains, plows and blades, and performing debris removal. 




  • Position may also be called in to respond during other types of weather emergencies.




  • Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.




  • Perform other related duties as assigned.




 


Required Qualifications :
 

Required Skills/Abilities:




  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.




  • Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).




  • Ability to work collaboratively.




  • Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.




  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.




 


Education and Experience:




  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.




  • CDL Required




  • VA Drivers License Required 




  • Familiarity with snow removal operations is preferred




Minimum Qualifications




  • Candidates must be skilled in operating highway equipment during inclement weather conditions and performing preventive maintenance on equipment. 




  • Must be able to perform heavy manual labor to include standing, bending, and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and work on-call during 12 hour day  or night shifts to support emergency operations. 




  • Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.




  •  Valid Commercial Driver’s License required.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Experience performing snow removal operations.




  • Experience operating equipment such as single/tandem axle/dump truck, motor grader, backhoe, tractor, rubber tire front end loader, etc. 




  • Experience working12 hour shifts, night and day, when necessary.




Physical Requirements:




  • Will be required to work outside normal business hours in emergencies, inclement weather and hazardous traffic conditions. 




  • Safety shoes required. 




  • Selected applicants must complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to employment. Fingerprint based criminal history background check, references, work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. 




  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. H1B VISA Sponsorship is not available.    




  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at times. 




  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
