Job Title: Certified Peer Support Specialist
Location: Hope Center – 365 Airport Rd, New Castle, DE 19720
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week
Pay Range: $20/hour

Position Overview:
The Certified Peer Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting individuals navigating recovery from mental illness, addiction, or co-occurring conditions. This position is ideal for someone with lived experience who is passionate about using that experience to support and empower others. The Peer Specialist will assist individuals in building the skills, resilience, and community connections necessary for sustained recovery and independence. This role reports to an administrative supervisor within the Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a role model of recovery and wellness for individuals facing similar life challenges.


• Assist clients with setting goals and developing recovery plans.


• Support individuals as they transition between levels of care.


• Promote self-advocacy, self-direction, and informed choice.


• Provide emotional support and share strategies based on lived experience.


• Collaborate with clinical and case management teams to ensure continuity of care.


• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.


• High School Diploma or GED required.


• Must have lived experience with mental illness and/or substance use recovery and be willing to share this experience to support others.


• Completion of Delaware Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Training (or willingness to complete).


• Prior experience working in a peer role or similar capacity.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to work on-site Monday through Friday.


• Weekend work is not required.


• Driving may be required for some responsibilities (e.g., community outreach, appointments).
