POSITION SUMMARY:


We are currently recruiting for a Child Welfare Social Worker. The Child Welfare Social Worker is responsible for performing complete collateral work on CPS investigations and foster care cases, and related duties as assigned. This FULL-TIME position pays $39.00 or per hour and is located in Rockville, MD.



Employees assigned to this position are subject to Union membership, fees, and dues in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, and employment with ATHENA may be conditioned upon participation in the client’s Union.



Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Obtain release of information signatures from clients; call reporting sources for information, communicate and collaborate with collateral contacts to include services providers; participate in clinical meetings; conduct home/community visits of children and parents/guardians/foster parents
Make client referrals to community resources and service providers
Conduct home, community, and school visits – must be comfortable with these types of visits and settings
Follow directions and protocols from Assessment and/or Foster care Social worker, Supervisor, and Manager

Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.
Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures, to continually improve the efficiency of the department and services performed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications :

Required Skills/Abilities:


Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills within the English language.
Proven, high-quality customer service (internal and external customers).
Ability to work collaboratively.
Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:


Advanced Licensed Social Worker Requirement: Two years plus social work experience under the supervision of an LCSW or LCSW-C in accordance with Maryland Board requirements. Must possess MSW with LMSW or higher licensure with the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners


Licensed Social Worker Requirement: Experience can range from a graduate degree up to two years of social work experience under the supervision of an LCSW or LCSW-C in accordance with Maryland Board requirements.



Must possess knowledge of family systems and/or Child Welfare systems; knowledge about child and family development
Must possess knowledge of working with clients who may have experienced trauma, domestic violence, and/or substance abuse
Must be culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of diverse populations.
Skill in using, client intake, case management, and reporting systems to document and use personal, diagnostic, therapeutic, counseling, case management, administrative, financial, and other types of information; this includes skill in ensuring adequacy and accuracy of data/transactions and, as assigned, generating reports
Must pass CJIS Maryland and National Criminal Background Check.
Must clear Child Abuse and Neglect Clearance.
Driver’s License required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:


Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
