POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently recruiting for a Child Welfare Social Worker. The Child Welfare Social Worker is responsible for conducting program studies, managing caseloads, determining program eligibility, and related duties as assigned. This Full-time position is in Rockville, MD, and pays $28.00 /hr.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Complete collateral work on Child Protective Services Investigation and Foster Care cases to include but not limited to: Obtain release of information signatures from clients; call reporting sources for information, communicate and collaborate with collateral contacts to include services providers; participate in clinical meetings; conduct home/community visits of children and parents/guardians/foster parents.
- Make client referrals to community resources and service providers.
- Conduct home, community, and school visits – must be comfortable with these types of visits and settings.
- Follow directions and protocols from Assessment and/or Foster care, Social worker, Supervisor, and Manager
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must possess knowledge of family systems and knowledge about child and family development.
- Must possess knowledge of working with clients who may have experienced trauma, domestic violence, and/or substance abuse.
- Must be culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of diverse populations.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with clients to assist in assessing information about a family’s socioeconomic, health, financial, and other life domain areas.
- Skill in using a computer, modern office suite software (such as MS Office), enterprise systems/software, specialty systems/software for client referral, case tracking/reporting, Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to provide guidance and training to others.
- Skill and ability to organize and plan day-to-day responsibilities.
- Must pass CJIS Maryland and National Criminal Background Check.
- Must clear Child Abuse and Neglect Clearance.
- Driver’s License required
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree
- 1 year of experience in the human service field that involves client contact and service delivery through direct assistance or referral.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
- Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, however, evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
