Job Title: Temporary Cook (Long-Term Care Facility)
Location: Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963

Hours: 29 hours per week
Type: Seasonal, Temporary Position (approx. 3 months)
Shifts Available:
· Shift 1: 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM
· Shift 2: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
· Monday–Friday and weekend availability required
Position Overview:
The Delaware Veterans Home is currently seeking two dedicated Cooks to join our Dietary Services team. These positions play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our residents by preparing and delivering high-quality, nutritious meals in a respectful, compassionate, and professional environment.
This is a temporary seasonal role expected to last approximately 3 months—a great opportunity for someone seeking extra income or in transition between jobs.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare, cook, and portion meals according to standardized recipes and prescribed menus.
· Follow dietary requirements and restrictions, including texture-modified and specialized diets.
· Ensure all food is handled and served in accordance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
· Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and work areas throughout each shift.
· Collaborate with dietary staff to support smooth and efficient meal service.
· Assist with meal service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as scheduled.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Previous experience cooking in healthcare, long-term care, or institutional setting preferred.
· Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.
· Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and dietary restrictions accurately.
· Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Additional Information:
· Temporary position lasting approximately 3 months
· 29 hours per week with potential for part-time arrangements

Requirements:
· Proof of PPD Tuberculosis skin test (testing available on-site; results in 5–7 days)
