POSITION SUMMARY:


 


We are currently recruiting for a Dentist.  The Dentist, under general supervision, practices professional dentistry, providing direct patient care, diagnosis, and treatment in a County dental health program and related duties as assigned. This full time position pays $41.00 - 64.00 per hour and is located in Baltimore, MD.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         In clinical and school settings, examines dental patients, diagnoses dental diseases, recognizes medical conditions manifested orally, renders appropriate treatment, and prescribes medication, insuring the quality and completeness of patient dental care consistent with established standards.


·         Directs and works closely with dental hygienists and dental assistants regarding the appropriate treatment and care of patients.


·         Prepares correspondence, case histories, and other records and reports relative to patients' conditions and checks charts and reports as required.


·         Attends staff meetings and participates in diagnostic and treatment discussions, lectures, seminars, and case presentations.


·         Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.


·         Recommend new approaches, polices, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.


·         Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.


·         Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications :

Required Skills/Abilities:


·         Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, procedures, and methods of general dentistry.


·         Thorough knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases, illnesses, and injuries.


·         Knowledge of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.


·         Thorough knowledge of the tools, instruments, and equipment used in dentistry.


·         Thorough knowledge of current dental health issues, techniques, and materials.


·         Thorough knowledge of current OSHA and MOSH standards pertaining to dentistry.


·         Skill in the diagnosis and treatment of dental diseases. Skill in the provision of dental care.


·         Skill in overseeing the work of dental hygienists and dental assistants. Skill in the preparation and documentation of case histories and records.


·         Ability to learn and follow County and Departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.


·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other health care providers.


·         Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Full Performance):


·         Knowledge of County and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.


·         Knowledge of programs and services offered by the County.


Education and Experience:


·         Graduation from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association with a degree of doctor of dental surgery, doctor of dental medicine, or an equivalent, plus two years' experience in the practice of dentistry.


·         Or possession of a valid license to practice dentistry, issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners, plus two years' experience in the practice of dentistry.


·         Possession of a valid license to practice dentistry issued by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners is required at the time of appointment.


·         Possession of an approved CPR certification is required at the time of appointment.


·         Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.


Physical Requirements:


·         The work of this classification includes the performance of physical activities such as walking, standing, and bending and the operation of dental equipment and instruments.


·         Duties may expose incumbents to various bio-medical hazards.


·         Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


·         Must be able to lift and move up to 25 – 50 pounds at times. 


·         Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours may be required


·         Travel may be required up to 10% of the time
