Environmental Health Associate

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are recruiting a dedicated Environmental Health Assistant (EHA) to support record management for properties in Halifax County. This role involves searching for existing system records, organizing files, creating folders for data storage, and preparing records for uploading into a centralized database. The position requires independent judgment, attention to detail, and proficiency in managing data to enhance accessibility for staff working with septic and well permits. This Part-Time position starts at $20 per hour and is located in Halifax, VA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Perform data entry of existing onsite systems and well records from the cloud-based storage location into the Environmental Health Database (EHD).
- Ensure minimal errors when creating EHD address files.
- Upload system records to the 911 addresses created in EHD.
- Create septic files for attaching historical data.
- Retrieve records from the NextRequest system and add them to existing EHD files.
- Use NextRequest to review previous requests and attach them to known 911 addresses.
- Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Proven, high-quality customer service (internal and external customers).
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.
- Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- An ability to effectively communicate with large and small group audiences.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma and experience in environmental health.
· A Valid State Driver’s License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
· Proficient in basic computer software programs
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.
- Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
