POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently recruiting for a Equipment Repair Technician. The Equipment Repair Technician is responsible for installing, removing, and repairing police, communications, and other electronic equipment in Virginia State Police vehicles. The employee also services and repairs motor vehicles, and related duties as assigned. This FULL TIME & Part-Time position starts at $25 per hour and is in Chesterfield, VA.








ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Equip new vehicles by installing police, communications and other electronic equipment including lighting radio equipment and decals.











    •  Remove equipment from surplus vehicles.











    •  Repair and refurbish police, communications and other electronic equipment for installation in other vehicles, including all radios and decals. 











    • Coordinate and perform stockroom operations and garage support activities. 











    • Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments/deliveries and maintain inventory needed for the Installation Facility.











    • Calibrate speedometers. 











    • Remove components from wrecked vehicles, including all radios and lighting.











    • Tow disabled and wrecked vehicles using a rollback carrier, occasional overnight travel.











    • Assists with, shuffling vehicles, running errands, keeping facility clean and orderly.











    • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems











    • Works as a team member equipping vehicles accurately and in a timely manner to meet expected production goals.











    • Vehicles are towed safely and without inflicting further damage to vehicle or equipment.











    • Provides timely and courteous service to those people who come to garage for assistance











    • Able to perform other task when deemed necessary by supervision or the department. 











    • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.











    • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.











    • Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.











    • Perform other related duties as assigned.







Required Qualifications :

Required Skills/Abilities:




  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. 




  • Ability to communicate effectively in English. 




  • Minimal knowledge will start at a Trainee position. 




  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.




  • Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).




  • Ability to work collaboratively.




  • Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.




  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.




  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.




  • Ability to prioritize tasks.




  • Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.




  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.




Education and Experience:




  • High school diploma or GED required. 




  • Valid DL




  • Preferred Automotive experience.




  • Must not have any DUI's, Accidents, or Citations in the last 3 years.




Work Schedule

(2) Part-Time (Tuesday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm

(2) Full-Time (Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm)



Physical Requirements:




  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 




  • This position involves sitting, walking, standing, bending neck, bending waist, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, crawling, lifting or carrying items up to 75lbs.




  • Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.




  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
