POSITION SUMMARY:


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to prepare, cook, serve, and store meals for teen students, ensuring compliance with public health and safety standards. The role involves maintaining a clean kitchen and dining area, adhering to CDC safety protocols, and reporting to work on time. The successful candidate will complete daily time sheets, wear appropriate PPE, and follow DMA and ChalleNGe policies. Additional responsibilities include attending mandatory training sessions, using fire safety equipment, managing menu items, and supervising cadets assisting in the dining facility. A valid driver’s license is required. This Full-time position starts at $17 per hour and is located in Virginia Beach, VA.


 


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.


 



  • Prepare (stock inventory, cook, serve and put food away) breakfast, lunch, and dinner with snacks to teen students

  • Maintain a clean and neat kitchen and dining area to keep within public health standards and CDC covid safety standards

  • Report on time for shift; notify supervisor in advance if there is an issue with arriving on time or reporting to work

  • Completes the timesheet daily and submits to supervisor on Sunday

  • Wears proper PPE (hair net and facemask) while on shift.

  • Follows established policies from DMA that apply to ChalleNGe and ChalleNGe policies and procedures

  • Follow all safety guidelines. 

  • Current health card and serv-safe certificate if applicable

  • Attend all mandatory in-service training and monthly DFAC training sessions. 

  • Knowledgeable of how to use fire extinguishing equipment in the kitchen

  • Completes mandatory training when scheduled for CPR/AED/First Aid+

  • Follows the 21-day menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks and ensures that the Supervisor is notified immediately if there is an issue with the menu

  • Completes productions reports daily as directed by supervisor

  • Ensure cadets assisting in the dining facility follow proper safety and clean up procedures.

  • Contacts Team Leader and Supervisor anytime there is any issue or concern with the cadet

  • Considered essential staff when on shift and cadets on the ground. 

  • Make every effort possible to report to work.

  • Performs ancillary duties as directed by Supervisor or Director

  • Has a valid Driver’s License

  • Performs additional duties as directed by the supervisor or management

  • Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within the division and company.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.






 


Required Qualifications :

  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.

  • Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).

  • Ability to work collaboratively.

  • Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.

  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • An ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


 


Education and Experience:





  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.

  • VA Driver’s License Required 

  • Ability to prepare, cook, serve, and store meals for teen students (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks)

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas, following public health and CDC COVID-19 safety standards


 


 


Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times. 

  • Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
