POSITION SUMMARY:








 








We are currently recruiting for a Management Specialist III (Psychiatric Technician). This Full-Time position pays $22.00 per hour and is located in Rockville, Maryland.








 








Employees assigned to this position are subject to Union membership, fees, and dues in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, and employment with ATHENA may be conditioned upon participation in client’s Union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Psychiatric Technician, you will be responsible for supporting patients occupying a space in the 23 Hour Bed Program within the Crisis Center from the time of admission until discharge. Other duties and responsibilities include:








 


















        • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition for the patient

























        • Measure and record vital signs, including pulse rate, breathing rate and blood pressure

























        • Complete rounds on patients by tracking and observing changes in health status or behavior every 15 minutes.

























        • Escort patients to designated areas inside the facility

























        • Provide behavioral emergency assistance, such as patient restraint or basic first aid when needed, as well as recognize and report homicidal or suicidal behaviors

























        • Communicate with staff, patients and their family members as needed

























        • Work with internal and external medical and behavioral health professionals, and other community service providers as needed

























        • Maintain regular contact with clients

























        • Monitor outcomes until clients are in a safe and culturally competent service environment or in a fully recovered condition.

























        • Serve as client advocate to ensure clients' needs are met

























        • Increase client engagement through follow-up and scheduling assistance

























        • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

















 Required Skills/Abilities:


















        • Experience working with underserved populations

























        • Preference will be given to individuals who are multi-lingual

























        • Strong Communication Skills

























        • CPR Certification

























        • Crisis Intervention training

























        • Excellent listening and customer service skills

























        • Demonstrate a calm and professional demeanor to assist complex client population and to interact with a range of partners

























        • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with a professional team.

























        • Strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of the issues concerning substance abuse and crisis situations.

























        • Knowledge of local community resources and state and federal programs

























        • Experience with trauma informed care preferred

























        • Ability to effectively work as part of a professional team

























        • Mid-level keyboard accuracy; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Teams, Office 365/Teams, and in using the internet.

























        • Independence in using a laptop computer, Microsoft Teams, and telephone messaging system.

























        • Internet access and skills to use a "smart" phone

























        • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.

























        • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

























        • Ability to prioritize tasks.

























        • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.














Required Qualifications :

Education and Experience:


 



  • High school diploma or GED, Associates degree preferred

  • Preference will be given to individuals with Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) Certification and to those who are multi-lingual.

  • At least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.


 


Physical Requirements:


 


Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.


Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, however evening and weekend hours may be required.


Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
