Job Title: Human Services Specialist III – SUNBucks Program
Location: 7300 Calhoun Place, Suite 600, Rockville, MD 20855
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week (Monday through Friday, Regular Business Hours)

POSITION SUMMARY:


We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Bilingual  Human Services Specialist III to assist clients with inquiries related to the SUNBucks program and other DHHS services. This full-time 40-hour-per-week position pays $24.00 per hour and is located in Rockville MD. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service while ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of client information. This position is based at the OESS Command Center and offers a hybrid work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet, screen, and assist clients who call or visit the OESS Command Center.

  • Identify the needs that bring clients to the center and provide the appropriate assistance.

  • Offer guidance and support to clients in completing applications for DHHS programs such as Food Stamps and TCA.

  • Make referrals to Human Services Specialist III as needed for additional support.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of customer information at all times.

  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure a positive interaction with each client.

  • Provide excellent customer service at every interaction.

  • Maintain the privacy of customer information at all times.

  • Serve clients in their native language by either interpretation or using the Limited English Proficiency language line as needed.

  • Inform the customer of what they can expect next, time frames, next steps they need to take, and how and with whom to follow up.

  • Document all client interactions in the eICM database.

  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.

  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.

  • Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within the division and company.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications :

Required Skills/Abilities:



  • Has knowledge of DHHS and community resources to address customer needs, resolve problems, and answer questions.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.

  • Prior experience in customer service or human services is a plus.

  • Adheres to and practices HIPPA regulations.

  • Uses technology including software and applications (CARES, email, Office 365, the NON-Database, MCG, Portal, MyDHR,etc) regularly.

  • Effectively manages multiple priorities and tasks in a timely manner.

  • Teamwork and a collaborative spirit to enhance the site and customer service.

  • Demonstrates clarity and accuracy in verbal, written and listening communication skills.

  • Dependability and reliability to report to work in a timely fashion to receive clients.

  • Experience in interacting with and helping people from all backgrounds and situations.

  • Prior customer service experience.

  • Language proficiency-Ability to communicate in English and Spanish

  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office

  • Willingness to learn and use new software and programs (such as CARES, eICM, MyDHR, etc.)

  • Proven team player- ability to interact positively with coworkers daily in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills within the English language.

  • Proven, high-quality customer service (internal and external customers).

  • Ability to work collaboratively.

  • Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.

  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Education and Experience:



  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Two years of experience in the Health and Human Services field.  

  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.


Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times. 

  • Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, however, evening and weekend hours may be required. 

  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
