POSITION SUMMARY:


 


We are currently recruiting for a Scientist. The Scientist position will perform drinking water analyses and assist with rudimentary tasks such as instrument checks and basic instrument maintenance, glassware washing and sample logging. Degree in natural/physical science or relevant experience is required. Familiarity with scientific equipment and glassware. Ability to follow instructions/standard operating procedures (SOP’s). This FULL-TIME position goes up to $27 an hour and is located in Richmond, VA.


 


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Perform analyses of drinking water samples to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Assist with basic laboratory tasks, including instrument checks and routine maintenance of scientific equipment.

  • Wash glassware and ensure a clean and organized laboratory environment.

  • Log samples accurately and maintain detailed records of analyses and procedures.

  • Follow established instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain the integrity of testing processes.

  • Collaborate with team members to support various scientific projects and initiatives.

  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.

  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.

  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.

  • Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills within the English language.

  • Proven, high quality customer service (internal and external customers).

  • Ability to work collaboratively.

  • Solid ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt appropriate courses of action.

  • Ability to understand and adhere to the duties, methods, and procedures required by the position.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to effectively communicate to large and small group audiences.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


 


Education and Experience:



  • Degree in natural or physical science or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Familiarity with scientific equipment and glassware.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions meticulously.

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.


Physical Requirements:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.

  • Standard hours of work.

  • Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
