POSITION SUMMARY:

This FULL-TIME position ranges from $32.00-$36.00 per hour depending on experience and is in Hanover, MD. The Utilization Manager Clinician - PASRR is responsible for managing psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder facility-based and outpatient professional treatment health benefits through telephonic or written review, and related duties as assigned.

This position is remote. Must be licensed in Maryland.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uses appropriate screening criteria  knowledge and clinical judgment to assess member needs to ensure access to medically necessary  quality behavioral healthcare in a cost effective setting in accordance with UM Clinical Guidelines and contract.


• Refers cases to Peer Reviewers as appropriate.


• Performs psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder assessment  coordination  implementation  case planning  monitoring  and evaluating to promote quality member outcomes to optimize member health benefits  and to promote effective use of health benefits and community resources.


• Will serve as a resource to other BH Care Managers.


• Assists with more complex cases  and may participate in inter and intradepartmental teams  projects and initiatives.


• Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems


• Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars as assigned.


• Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures, to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.


• Efficiently performs duties as assigned and works as a team within division and company.


• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires MA/MS in social work counseling or a related behavioral health field or a degree in nursing, and minimum of 3 years of experience with facility-based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder treatment; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.


• Current active unrestricted license such as RN, LCSW, LPC, (as allowed by applicable state laws) LMFT or Clinical Psychologist to practice as a health professional within the scope of licensure in applicable states or territory of the United States required. 


• Licensure is a requirement for this position.


• Licensed healthcare professionals under Maryland law


• Documented professional experience within BH, somatic health, or long-term care settings


• Demonstrated proficiency in the identification and recognition of complex symptoms and the differential diagnoses of BH disorders, somatic illnesses, organic disorders, and dementia


• Demonstrated ability to assess and evaluate the relative impact and interrelationship of comorbid somatic and BH conditions on the individual’s ability to function within community-based or long-term care settings and to engage in chronic disease self- management


• Ability to interpret and apply federal regulatory requirements regarding the PASRR process

Physical Requirements:

• Possible prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


• Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds at times.


• Standard hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
